Academic Translation
I translate academic articles and chapters, research proposals and books from Spanish to English.
To my academic translations I bring my expertise in English academic register and terminology in different disciplines across the humanities and social sciences, as well as my experience working with English-language journals and publishers and familiarity with their different style guides (including punctuation, referencing and bibliographies).
I also offer stylistic editing for academic authors writing in English but whose first language is Spanish.
My recent translations include The Fabric of Fear: Building Franco’s New Society in Spain, 1936-1950 by Jorge Marco and Gutmaro Gómez Bravo (University of Liverpool Press 2023) and From Ashes to Text: Andean Literature of Sexual Dissidence in the 20th Century by Diego Fálconi Trávez (Polity 2022).
Literary Translation
I translate fiction and nonfiction prose from Spanish to English.
To literary translation I bring my creative talents as a writer as well as my love of story-telling. I have recently translated my first novel: Damián Rovner’s I Did It, an Argentine crime novel in the noir tradition.
Rates
For academic, nonfiction and literary translation I charge by the word, taking into account as well any particular characteristics of the text (e.g. specialist language), as well as the deadline. I will request a sample of the work to be translated before we agree a fee.
